The Major Projects Association is seeking a new Chair

What sort of person are we seeking?

Someone who is willing to commit some of their time, energy and experience to oversee the Association as it helps our members and the wider sector tackle national challenges such as renewing aging infrastructure, delivering the energy transition, boosting the economy and tackling climate change through major projects.

He or she will chair a talented and lively Board who are diverse in background, in experience, in ideas and in the views they express. They will be helping fulfil our purpose: to improve the initiation, delivery and outcomes of major projects through the interaction of our broad range of members in sharing experience, knowledge, research and ideas. The Board’s aim is to give a strategic lead to the organisation as a whole and guide the Executive Director and his team to deliver the strategic plan.

What is the time commitment?

The time commitment is very flexible, but typically works out at between 2 and 3 days a month. The Board meets formally four times a year. The Chair’s engagement with seminars, discussions, training events and dinners is both encouraged and enormously enjoyable. It often fits well around other professional commitments.

Remuneration

Remuneration is a nominal £12,000 per annum, but the non-financial rewards are great – in the satisfaction of supporting Association members and the sector more broadly, and in networking with others who have a shared passion for improving major project outcomes.

How to apply

If you are interested or can think of anyone who might be interested, please encourage them to apply via the nominations portal.

Should any candidates want any more information on the Association please contact Andy Murray, Executive Director of the Major Projects Association, or the Association’s Interim Chair, Jim O’Sullivan, who is leading the search process, via the portal.

Closing date for applications

The closing date for applications is 12 noon on 6th January 2025.

Interviews for shortlisted candidates will take place on 4th or 5th February and a decision will be made by our Board in March with the new Chair expected to start in April.
