Operating a temporary worker hotline in China

Summary

The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) developed a Sustainable Sourcing Code and required licensees and suppliers to take appropriate steps to comply with the labour standards set out in the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) Base Code. To enable workers to raise grievances and complaints around the application of the Code, LOCOG set up a worker hotline in China. In at least one case this led to direct intervention and redress for workers involved.
