Organisational Project management and Project Governance – when do different models work?

Summary

Excellent Project Management principles and processes are crucial, but ensuring that they are deployed with appropriate leadership, governance and consideration of the ‘people issues’ is fundamental for success, and that, in a few words describes Organisational Project Management (OPM) and the focus of this seminar.

Our speakers, each very prominent in different sectors, from academia to public and private sectors will be presenting a variety of views, approaches and experiences, depending on their perspectives, ranging from project initiation through to delivery. The breadth of originality that comes with the scope of this event and from a number of backgrounds will build on Case Studies, an approach to ‘common tools across portfolio’s’, the publication ‘Enterprise Programme Management – Delivering Value (with10 years of real success) and to current government initiatives that are on the cusp of going live. Cabinet Office minister Francis Maude said speaking of AXELOS, ‘we are committed to getting Britain ahead in the global race, . . . we want to exploit these hidden gems, . . . It’s a great endorsement of the Civil Service that major companies use PRINCE2.

The intent of the day is to stimulate debate and to ensure that delegates feel inspired to leverage from the presentations and discussions and improve performance of their own organisations. An opportunity to take a simple look at our own perceptions of where we believe we sit in the world of OPM alongside others will stimulate further discussion towards the end of the event and provide food for thought and an added dimension to take away and share with colleagues later.
