Innovation in the Management of Major Projects

Summary

“Innovation” is another of those curious “Buzz” words which have come to dominate our language. Often used as THE strategic business “driver” in mission statements but perhaps much misunderstood in application and in measurable results.

We all understand that a competitive world requires novel, even original solutions to win and perform. After all “necessity is the mother of invention”.

But can “innovation” be “switched on” when you need it most? Does it require different people to be consistently innovative? Can existing teams be made more “innovative? “ If so how?

The intention is to share examples of outstanding innovation based on the experiences of a number of projects.

Are some organisations naturally better at being consistently creative? How important is culture, leadership, knowledge, even process in developing the winning solution? Are there tools and techniques which can genuinely help?

This meeting will provide the opportunity to discuss these issues and examine what differentiates these “innovation” exemplars from similar projects – making them faster, cheaper or more successful.
Although we naturally tend to think of “innovation” being applied to technology – the term and the skill can be applied to all of the many disciplines throughout the project lifecycle:- strategy, marketing, finance, legal, design, operations, supply chain, and change. All of these can make a real difference to project success and form the basis of our presentations at this conference.

This conference will provide delegates with an up to date view of best practice and how “Innovation” might be applied to their businesses and to their projects.

The key objective of the conference is:- ‘How to recognise innovation and apply it’
