Identify and manage project success

Summary

This half day seminar concentrates on the less tangible aspects of identifying and managing project success. Members, as project orientated people, clearly and easily align with delivery to time, cost and quality, and readily take the extra benefits that come along with the aspects of a successful project. Sometimes however, success is realised in other ways and may change over time or from the individual’s perspective, but still can be captured and remains transferable.

The Event, through its Chair, who has considerable experience and success in the delivery of customer focussed projects and its opening speaker, will initially set out the metrics that we have considered important for a number of years. We shall then examine how these metrics are aligned on cross department programmes, learn how different users over time viewed the success of a dynamic, front line, military camp, and understand how continuing investment over several phases of an urban metro has built upon previous success. Whilst absolutely diverse in nature, both build on the successes of the previous phases, recognise that they are working in an operational environment and depend on a high degree of integration. Both are heavily reliant on human factors and sound systems integration to underpin their successes.

Finally, we have a speaker from the Cabinet Office who will articulate how Government might view success in the post Comprehensive Spending Review world of major public sector projects, giving Members thoughts to take away and share within their own organisations.
