Power Generation in a Developing Economy - an international experience from South Africa
Seminar
This international seminar will be of interest to those engaged in power generation and distribution and/or those with business interests in developing economies around the world.
Murray and Roberts, one of MPA’s overseas members, is the leading contractor in South Africa and is actively pursuing opportunities to develop, finance and construct new power stations to meet the rapid rise in demand for energy. There are many issues which complicate this process and these will be shared at this seminar.
South Africa is wishing to utilise the very latest technology for nuclear power stations which raises questions around applying first world technology to developing economies and the particular circumstances to be found here. In addition, speakers will address the mechanisms to be deployed to deal with resource limitations, indigenous labour issues, and lessons from neighbouring countries.
Speakers and contributors from within the membership with extensive experience of power generation in other emerging economies will bring their own lessons to add to the knowledge and debate.
It is hoped that senior executives will value this opportunity to share experiences with other leaders of international businesses. Those responsible for business development in Africa and those engaged in power generation will be able to exchange experience, knowledge and ideas with influential leaders of South African organisations.
