Sad passing of Prof. Peter Morris

Published

It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Professor Peter Morris yesterday (6th Sept 2021).  Peter was our Executive Director early on in our history during which time he wrote his hugely important book (together with Dr George Hough) – “The Anatomy of Major Projects”.  His leadership and his great intellect helped to shape the way that we think about Major Projects as well as the way in which the Association developed.

Peter remained connected to the Association from this time onwards and was a regular delegate and contributor to our events for as long as his health would allow.

Although he had formally retired from his role at UCL Peter continued to inspire and to challenge his friends and colleagues with his ability to foresee key issues – he was addressing how major projects could become more sustainable years before the word “sustainable” was part of our everyday language.

On top of his many academic achievements, Peter was a kind, thoughtful and good-humoured individual who will be missed by his family and his friends across the projects world.
