Britain needs the best Project Managers: Where will they come from?

Summary

At a Major Projects Association seminar held in March 2007 it was concluded that the current plans for investment in UK plc would stretch the supply of resources of all kinds, including skilled project managers. Since then a number of reports have further highlighted the growing concerns about the lack of both numbers of experienced professional staff and their required levels of skills needed to deliver the very large projects being planned over the next decade or so.

This seminar will look at what is being done in the UK to remedy the predicted shortage of Project Managers; what is being planned for developing the professional status of Project Management; and what options exist to add to the resource level in the UK.

A number of speakers have been assembled who will emphasise the importance that Government attaches to this topic, explain the progress towards recognition of this skill, and give examples of how some commercial businesses are trying to solve this problem across their global operations

This topic has received much attention from within MPA’s membership and so it is expected that those members who are responsible for managing and developing their in-house talent pool of Project Managers will find this seminar of relevance, as would those whose job it is to provide leadership and direction for their organisation in achieving growth in project management.

Delegates are encouraged to be prepared to share their own specific project management gaps and to how they are trying to resolve them.
