The Major Projects Association’s Annual Conference this year bears the title “Project Personality Matters”, a theme we have picked up from a fascinating session at one of our seminars last year. We wish to test the proposition that all the various entities, individuals and organisations, have a collective personality which is the “personality of the project” and that the nature of this personality has a huge bearing upon the project’s success.
Every project passes through different phases with particular external constraints. We will seek to understand how these phases require different approaches and whether the personality of the project influences the outcomes.
Intuitively this concept may make sense, but we are also seeking to test the idea. To this end, we have commissioned organisational psychologists, Hinton & Co, to undertake a short investigation of member case studies to examine the evidence. The results will be reported at the conference. Delegates will be able to form an understanding of the successful components of “project personality” to help them deliver successful projects in the future and will be offered a diagnostic tool to take away.
The Conference will commence with dinner on the 22nd and will continue the following day on the 23rd September concluding at 16.30 hrs.
