NLP for Project Managers
Summary
When it was first published, many project managers might have questioned the wisdom or significance of Peter Parkes ‘NLP for Project Managers’, now 10 years and nearly 25,000 copies later, NLP is an established tool for understanding and managing the human dynamics at play in how we all work and Peter Parkes book has become an established go-to for both the theory and the lived experience of its author.
During the first of our Meet the Author, Book Club events, as part of our 2020 Annual Conference Fringe, Peter set his readers four questions to explore:
Q. What do you think are key behavioural differences between an effective project manager, focussing on outputs, and a programme manager focussing on organisational outcomes and business benefits? (Maybe think about main focus such as options v process, opportunity v risk, big picture v detail, leadership style, etc)
Q. After reading the book, what did you find most interesting / useful in the context of P3M?
Q. Do you feel that P3M professionals should be offered training and coaching in behavioural competences, using a toolset like NLP, to help them to become more effective in their roles?
Q. Having read the book, why do you think Group Coaching might be more suitable in effecting behavioural change, and what do you think additional benefits might be?
